Our customer had a process that required high-speed cutting of tubes, with a very tight tolerance of +/- 1 mm. In order to achieve the required cycle time, they were running at a speed that would create process variation and output 7% scrap material. The process instability also forced them to use an extra resource to perform secondary inspection while running the process.
Our Engineers spent a few hours evaluating the process and quickly determined a suitable solution. We were able to install and implement a high-accuracy, high-speed drive into the process, which resolved the problem. In the end, we were able to meet the customer specifications with accurate repeatability. We were also able to reduce the cycle time from 7 seconds to 4 seconds, which was a cycle time savings of 43%! Our client saw their return on investment in just 7 weeks.
